Karachi (Staff Reporter) — A social organization has announced to file a petition in the Sindh High Court against clinics and hospitals run by unlicensed doctors in Karachi city. The statement issued by the organization said that the Sindh Health Department and district health officers will be made parties to take action against unlicensed doctors across the province.

According to the petitioner, unscrupulous doctors have set up clinics and hospitals in various areas across Sindh, including Karachi, where poor and naive patients are being robbed in the name of treatment. Such unscrupulous clinics are especially active in areas like Hussain Hazara Goth, Juma Goth, Benazir Basti and Qalandarabad.

The petition states that the main leader of all these clinics is a person named Asif Shahzad, who has no medical background. Regarding the Asif clinic, it has been stated that the person running the clinic used to work as a waiter at the Golden Restaurant in the past, and later opened the clinic by posing as a doctor.

Similarly, a man named Shahid Mustafa, who earlier worked as a driver at a bungalow, is now running a clinic in the name of “Dr. Shahid Mustafa” in Qalandarabad area of Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Another man, Asghar Hussain, who was earlier associated with the heat-proof chemical business and an estate agency, now claims to be a doctor and provide treatment. The petition claims that three deaths have also occurred in his clinic.

According to the petitioner, these arrogant doctors do not have any education from any medical university or institution, but they treat patients by posing as doctors. Due to wrong injections and substandard treatment, many patients have fainted and some have even lost their lives.

It has been further stated that these clinics carry out illegal abortions, during which deaths of women and children have also been reported. The petitioner claimed that these rogue doctors are working as an organized group and are getting shelter by inaugurating new clinics under the patronage of a retired DSP Tariq Jadoon, Saifullah Kabari and Nasir Sheikh.

The petition requests the court to order strict action against such reckless doctors so as to prevent the threats to the lives of citizens.
